The village has a post office/village shop, a country pub and an award-winning seafood restaurant/boutique hotel (Wensleydale Heifer) and is ideally situated for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.  Leyburn, 4 miles away, has a good selection of further amenities and nearby are walks over the fells and to West Burton, Bolton Castle and Aysgarth Falls.  A range of activities available for children including chocolate, teapot and cheese factories, the Forbidden Corner, horse riding, a theme park, flight simulator, aerial runway, Wensleydale Railway, museums and places of historical interest, such as Jervaulx Abbey, Ripon Cathedral and castles at Middleham, Richmond and Castle Bolton. The Yorkshire Dales also has its own vineyard and winery, brewery, golf clubs and a range of restaurants and pubs to suit everyone’s needs.
